I didn't want to spring for a new notebook, so I bought a portable hard
drive and a new PCMCIA card for wireless. For about $200 Canadian, I've
extended the life of my existing machine by a couple of years. And, when
I do buy a new notebook, the portable hard drive will still be useful
for backup for my desk machine.
I also nuked the Windows partition, and am running only on GNU/Linux,
which has far lower system requirements for the same results.
