Besides...they most certainly CAN tell the difference...or at least
they can recognize the lack of it when they see it (or don't see it).
How do we know they can see it? Lowering of rates, moving jobs
overseas, lack of respect, etc.

BTW...and I kid you not...I was in my manager's office reviewing a
document and I saw a book on preparing for the PMP certification
exam. We talked a few minutes on it, then out of the blue, he asks
"Do technical writers have a certification?"
