Very few people can answer the job interview question:
"What makes you unique as a X?" with any degree

To ask why this question is so important is to ask:
"Of what importance is a purpose driven life?"

Tony,

There are two kinds of people in this world--those who divide the world into two kinds of people, and the rest of us. That said, one way of grouping people that catches _most_ (not all) workers is goal setters and problem solvers. A company needs both; and it may be that it is more advantageous to be a problem solver than a goal setter in any given tech writing situation.

So sometimes the answer to your question is, "A purpose-driven life is of no importance at all in this position. Thanks for coming in."

Dick
