TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Only two of the jobs I've been looked at for have mentioned SDLC's or
CMM. Most of them have been straight documentation and end-user
assistance work.
None of them have mentioned anything about IEEE or STC. As I'm not a
member of either, it doesn't phase me...though I am considering
joining STC this year *duck*. :)
At least one position has mentioned leadership and collaboration, as
the job requires the senior lead to mentor less experienced techs.
Take that for whatever it's worth.
