Oof, there are numerous software-related IEEE Standards, and I think you can
get 'em all on CD for $79 (slightly more for print). I dunno but you might
have to enroll (for additional $$) in an IEEE membership, or get your
standard waving colleagues to download them for them for you on their IEEE
account. Anyway, see:

A thread on techwr-l last year mentioned that a draft of Std 1063 (IEEE
Standard for Software User Documentation) had once been available on the web.

I've seen a copy of Standard # 830 (Software Requirements) online too, but
when I checked just now, I found this in its stead:

Indeed. But if you have a need and no budget, you still might find some
drafts ghosting along on more placid backwaters of the web.

Don't overlook the IEEE standards-related articles and summaries on web pages.
