I'm curious. How many people do you think could fulfill these job
requirements? This is a posting for a job as a scientific/medical
editor.
"Please do not send your resume if you do not meet the minimum
requirements.
Minimum requirements:
• Ph.D. in a scientific discipline
• B.A. in English or extensive experience in editing scientific
journal manuscripts"
I understand the desire for the scientific background, certainly. But
how many PhD holders in the scientific disciplines start out with a BA
in liberal arts? Darn few. It makes me wonder if this employer is
needlessly restrictive or simply naive.

"Be a scribe! Your body will be sleek, your hand will be soft. You are
one who sits grandly in your house; your servants answer speedily; beer
is poured copiously; all who see you rejoice in good cheer. Happy is
the heart of him who writes; he is young each day."--Ptahhotep, 4500 BCE
