I'm definitely in the minimal screenshots school. In fact, my rule of
thumb is to remove everything from the documentation that doesn't have
a strong and clear reason for being there. I'm particularly cautious
about screenshots that are mingled with steps in a procedure.

If the UI is complex, screenshots *with callouts* are excellent, but I
would still limit them to a get-to-know-your-interface chapter or
occasionally a topic overview.
