The "FDA consultant" is the telling item in the posting. This is a
medical technology startup. They probably don't even have an
HR dept and wrote this ad themselves. This is actually a potential
foot-in-the-door opportunity for someone with the degree and a bit
of writing experience who wants to become a medical writer. Once
they manage to pass FDA, nobody who lacks experience in medical
writing will have much of a chance at a writing job there, but for now,
while they're in their current mode, someone with the degree but no
medwriting experience who is willing to roll up sleeves and wear
multiple hats has a chance to get in and learn from the bottom up.
Moral of the story - pay your people what they are worth based on what
they do, and not what HR has as their job description. I know people
who've left those unusual voids to fill at former companies.
