TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
If you've received a job offer then I would assume that you've been
looking to move (TWers tend not, at least in my experience, to be
headhunted).
If the reason for looking was purely monetary and you're about to get a
rise that makes the reason redundant so, as long as you're happy where
you are there's no need to move. However, the job offer may include
other incentives (variety, possible career progression etc.) that need
to be considered before making a decision.
If the factors which prompted you to look for a move were more than just
monetary then, presumably, any other factors (work conditions etc.)
still exist and you need to decide does the pay rise compensate for
these factors? Would they exist if you moved?
