Adobe probably isn't for sale and you're right, few could afford that big an
outfit,
especially tiny Quadralay.
We have been discussing the possible sale of FrameMaker, an Adobe PRODUCT
which was bought by Adobe in the mid 90s when Adobe acquired FrameMaker's
publisher, Frame Systems. It is the opinion of most FrameMaker users that
FrameMaker has been under-supported, under-utilized, under-appreciated, and
under-developed in recent years by Adobe.
I have been a Frame and FrameMaker user since the mid 80s. FrameMaker was
called Frame when it was a Unix-only application in its first releases. Its
first porting was to the Macintosh platform when it was first called
FrameMaker in 1988 or so. I was a beta
tester for that first version of FrameMaker.
How I interpret what you think is "politics" is obviously subjective, David.
Sorry
if my interpretation doesn't coincide with yours. Maybe next time...
InDesign is very new and still has very little following thus far compared
to 20 years of
dedicated users in the global tech pubs community. And I like InDesign...
They are not nearly the same products though...
