TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I'd like to hear about the experiences that other tech writers have had
with branding. My small company was acquired by a much larger one with
elaborate branding requirements. After doing this kind of work for 17
years, this is my first experience with branding. I've read about it in
business magazines like "Fast Company", etc., but never actually worked
with it. The branding management has the final review on all marketing
collateral and web pages for both graphics and text. I am responsible for
content as writer and editor.
Specifically:
What helped you in adjusting to this environment?
What pitfalls should I try to avoid?
Any other advice?
Thanks !
