TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
There are things you can do if you felt the original recruiter had some
reasonable idea what he was doing, such as insisting that all contact
with the company be through the recruiter (whose has a real personal
stake in seeing the call to you be as successful as possible), or if you
got the acct rep's name, specifically asking that that person not be
allowed to handle your contract dealings. It might not be necessary
to shun the entire firm, and if enough people ask that one person not
be involved in their dealings, it's bound to get someone there curious
about why.
