An important factor is the level of developer
contribution. This is not a - yet - measurable
entity but it affects output.
The job is much easier if you have a group of
developers providing inputs smoothly, without you
having to follow up and more so, if the
information they provide is complete (one assumes
it is accurate, one doesn't mind if it presents
difficulty in understanding - that is what
writers are for: to translate geakspeak).
The writer's level of experience too plays a
role: someone with 6+ years shd be able to do
things not only better but faster too, than say a
writer with 2-3 years experience. Obviously one
doesn't expect the senior writer to do it in half
the time.
