Hard to answer this one without being cynical. What I've seen is
that the best writers managed to get out, and secure writing
positions at other companies before the one where they had worked
for five or six years folded, or perhaps just decided to save money
by doing away with frills like tech writing and equipment
maintenance. I've never seen a good interior path, in product
or services companies.
