For post-RIF wrap-up, my company insisted on a project
basis to begin with, and I wound up at the equivalent
of something like my former overtime rate, I suppose.
I got them to include a clause saying that further
work in the future, should they call me back for
more maintenance and updates, would be per hour and
at a bigger premium. Not that such a clause has any teeth;
you can't enforce a rate if no work was attached to it.
And when they needed a little writing again, they
went to an agency and got it done more cheaply.
