I've officially been a tech writer for 6 years now. I brush up the little
Framemaker I have every time a company I work for goes bust. But so far I've
never used it. I know of one job where Framemaker was a deciding factor in
who they finally hired, but I was out of the picture by then: in the third
hour of the interview I completely flaked and couldn't remember what
'platform' meant.
