I think such comments about an individual's perhaps revealing too much are
best made privately, principally because making reference to them in this
way only exacerbates any problem with the original comments by drawing
attention to them.

Ah, the rumblings of young revolutionaries! Social Injustice! Make the placards, man the picket line!

Hard times always bring out these feelings, especially when companies exercise their leverage against workers. It is just not as noticeable when the market forces are flowing in the opposite direction.

I believe that the remark is justifiable at least from an individuals perception, and is perhaps verifiable when one compares the compensation of the senior executives and that of the workers.

Many, though not all of American senior executives are grossly overcompensated. Especially when you view it through the prism of what do they actually provide of value to the company; what is their actual mission: self or company.

Many senior executives, or even those lower in the management pyramid, are woefully inadequate when examined to their results, and added value to the company over the long term. While many people who are on the bottom rung pay for incompetence, mid and senior level incompetence is often overlooked, causing a company more overhead.
