Subject: Re: Interviews & red flags
For me, a Mensa membership claim would provoke a little additional scrutiny
of an applicant, for over the years I have found that a fairly significant
percentage of active members have some difficulties in interacting with
others.
It seems that mental and emotional maturity do not always develop at the
same speed. On the job, I am very focused on teamwork and cooperation
because over the years I have found that effective interaction with
colleagues is a vital ingredient in a good work product.
There are, of course, exceptions to this experience--but again in my
experience, those who are the exceptions rarely are regular in attendance at
Mensa functions. (In case you wonder, over the years I tried three different
chapters in three different areas, but found too few people who were
sufficiently grounded in common sense to be active for long!)
Therefore, I would think a claim of "former Mensa membership" might be
a better indication than a present membership would! 8:)
