I've been following the sample discussion with interest. Just curious
about what others in hiring positions have seen as red flags - or reasons
not to interview or hire a candidate.

Not so much the obvious - like showing up late or lying about experience.
I'm curious about things that the candidates might think were good
attributes but that gave the interviewer a negative impression.

For example, I interviewed a candidate who included mensa membership on a
resume. This seemed strange to me. I was concerned that the candidate
might have issues dealing with tedious tasks or dealing with SMEs or
developers who at times could be condescending. This was a minor concern &
moot as a hiring freeze eliminated the possibility of hiring any
candidate. However, I'm sure the candidate saw the mensa resume line as a
positive attribute whereas I saw it differently.

Anyone else with similar experiences or thoughts?
