When tech writing project get thin, like they've been around here
the last three years, the going rate for so-called tech writing
seems to be about $10 to $13, and they expect you to take minutes
at meetings. I've passed on those opportunities. Weekends, I bill
my pony ride out at $100 per hour, six hour minimum.

I sense contracts are going down to $40 and less. I've seen them that
low. But, there's a point of no return. For example, to fix my car
costs $70/hour in labor. Same for a plumber. Except on weekends. The
guy who mows my lawn or plows my driveway charges 30. At some point,
it makes sense to do that work myself and not take a gig.

$40 a high? Sounds low.
