Re: Replacing FrameMaker with OpenOffice.org
Bruce,
Thanks for an interesting article.
How is OpenOffice.org's PDF output? Is there some kind of capability to output browser-based online help, a la WebWorks Publisher?
Hi, Mark:
In the current version, PDF output exists, but does not include bookmarks or links. The developer versions for 2.0 already have these features.
In the meantime, you can add a macro called PDFExtender that gives this functionality - and gives better PDF output than the built-in feature. However, it does require the installation of ghostscript, which is a bit of a pain for Windows users (on Linux, it's usually installed by default).
There is no browser-based online help as such. However, you can output to almost any markup language, and write your own filter if you can't find one on the Internet that you want.
