This is just a quick question. I have a bright and shiny book contract
for a technical (computer security) book. As a wannabe fiction writer,
I'm more familiar with that publishing process, where getting an agent
is a Very Good Idea. I'm pretty sure that tech contracts are
standardized enough that I don't really need an agent. (This is a
reputable publisher; the financial terms seem ok; and rights do revert
to me once it's out of print.) Am I right in understanding that
agents aren't necessary?

I did check the archives and couldn't find anything. There are so many
want-to-be-an-author sites that clearly have no clue that I'm not sure
what the good ones are, and the only technical book writer I know
personally has no idea what a new author today needs to do.

Thanks!
Rachael
