NON-North America speaking here, however I am NOT speaking for the whole
of Europe either, regardless of having supplied my services 6 different
countries.
CV's here (resume - seems to be specifically North American) (& north
america is specifically US & Canada), can be as long or as short as the
owner wants.
Having also filtered, interviewed and employed other authors, I considered
it to be respectful and an obligation to thoroughly read each candidates
CV and evaluate them on the CV solely.
Maybe crucially, the organisations / nations I worked in either cuturally
or sometimes, legally, could/did not ask questions regarding:
Race, religion, nationality (other than the legal ability to work in the
EU), Age, Gender (although names can give that away), Family status or
sexuality. This also includes Germany, so am surprised with the earlier
comment!
My own CV? 8 pages...
Page 1 is a kind of covering note - highlighting key skills,
qualifications, availability, and hobbies / interests, etc.
Pages 2-7 in reverse order most recent client 1st, every client I have
supplied to, in the format of:
Company name / Location - Dates of Contract - URL to Client documentation.
Line 1 - brief explanation of who the client is.
Line 2,3 & 4 - What I did for the client
Line 5 - Tools used.
Page 8 - List of Titles of Books, Brochures, Magazines, Flysheets, new
media, tech specs, etc. Chosen to highlight the various roles and
documents I have succesfully completed.
The only different versions are: Word / Frame / QXpress / PDF
