I think that whether more pages are acceptable depends on the quality of those pages and how they're organized. If the extra pages are relevant to the job, and/or if the resume gives a summary of skills and accomplishments on the first page, then I don't think many people will object.

In fact, no matter how long your resume is, the first page is probably the key. I suspect that few recruiters or HR look at the employment history closely if the skills and accomplishments don't look promising anyway.
