I would hope that a program that complex would have one or more
specification documents written by the software engineering department that
built the program and/or the marketing department or other entity that
specified what they wanted the program to be able to do. I think these
should be your primary resources. If they do not exist, you've got a lot of
problems. Next there is rummaging around in the program yourself to see what
it does. Then there are interviews with the SMEs (people who either wrote
the program or know well how to use it). Then do the task breakdown. Hope
