In the not too distant future, I could see the whole concept of storage media
becoming obsolete. You can already see it happening with services offering to
store lifetime amounts of email or photos online and with online music download
services like Apple's iTunes. With enough bandwidth and cheap storage capacity
we might eventually upload everything, including home videos, to the Web.

That would offload the whole issue to companies that specialize in data storage.
Of course, then you'll have a whole new set of issues - like privacy and
companies that go bankrupt.
