Both Australia and New Zealand have their own (each nation-wide) chapters
of STC. The Kiwis even beat the Aussies to having an active chapter!
As far as the Aussie chapter goes, the only "annual shindig" that we have
is the annual face-to-face committee meeting. But we have organised
support in the past for non-Sydney based members to travel to conferences
in Sydney, and I do believe we helped to get JoAnn Hackos out a couple of
years ago to run a training course and present at an ASTC NSW conference
(the ASTCs are local organisations developed in a couple of states in the
last 20 or so years). But i like the idea of "piggybacking" on AODC ...
that's something to seriously consider, even if we can only start out with
some workshops after AODC or something.
That being said, one of the items we will be discussing at the upcoming
face-to-face committee meeting this Saturday, is whether we can host an
STC regional conference (perhaps for regions 7 & 8) in 2007. I'm hoping we
think we will be able to do it!

Do you know Renata?
Is there an Aussie branch of the STC? They could maybe piggy-back
their yearly shindig on the AODC -- when I was in London last year at
WinWriters, the STC had their annual in the same place that WinWriters
was having their conf.
Otherwise, yeah, you are a ways out .... Maybe, start your own and
affiliate with a U.S. chapter (like the Connecticut Chapter)?
