This overstates the case a little. XML and SGML are a set of conventions for
defining specific file formats. While they do let you define any file format
you like for any purpose you like, you can only tag any particular piece of
content with one specific file format at a time. This means that you can
make a corresponding set of specific processing options available for that
content. However, there is no one tagging language that opens up a specific
piece of content to all possible processing options at once.
