For an intelligence-affirming story of how intelligence gets
paved over by such a cliche-bound, assembly-line education, read
"Right Brained Children in A Left Brained World" (By Freed and
Parsons, ISBN: 0684847930). This gal ran the hopeless gauntlet
of school and mis-diagnosis, and emerged most victorious. I saw
her presentation once, and boy I tell you, it was riveting.
The Left/Right thing apparently has lots of external
implications--speed reading, for instance, comes more naturally
to minds cast in the right-brain/creative style. For more
