Is the question not: WHY would you use XML for WYSIWYG?

As far as I can tell there are NO advantages to storing the docs in that
format if you are using that mode of creation. Wrong?

(I'm stilling getting into all this XML/single source stuff so don't shoot
me down too hard!)
