As a member of the Puget Sound STC newsletter committee, I can tell you we
worked hard improving the newsletter from last year. A list of the judging
criteria is available from STC national. I haven't seen this year's
evaluations yet. The SoundOff did win a Excellence, Most Improved award.

The prior year's newsletter committee entered and I've seen those
evaluations. In some areas they could be subjective, but most are pretty
straight forward. The SoundOff got dinged for using PDF deliver format, for
improper use/presentation of the STC logo, and inconsistent styleguide
usage.

Entry in any of the competitions is voluntary at the discretion of the
individual chapters and newsletter committees. I hope that clarifies who
enters. I suspect that entry is really dependent upon the energy level of
the manager. It takes a high degree of commitment to stay focused and do all
the paperwork to enter one of the competitions.
