I think the closest I've ever come to this is thinking
that something I've just written is the best thing I've
ever read. Whenever I'm tempted to think that way, I
remember the old newspaper saying, "today it's news,
tomorrow they'll be wrapping fish in it," then further
remind myself that unlike me, news writers can take
comfort in the knowledge that the "end users" of their
material were actually willing to pay for it and will
probably read it at least once before recycling it.

Do you ever write something down and immediately think it is good, great even?
