Hi Abhijit,

Alan Cooper's "About Face: The Essentials of User Interface Design" would
be a good book to start with. Jacob Nielsen also has compiled quite a lot
of guidelines in his "Aletbox" column at http://www.useit.com.

U.S. federal government's Section 508, a statutory section in the
Rehabilitation Act of 1973, contains guidelines for federal agencies to
ensure that their procurement of Electronic and Information Technology
takes into account the needs of all end users ? including people with
disabilities. Read more about section 508 compatibility at
http://www.section508.gov.

Since you haven't mentioned any details about your product, I have listed
a few guidelines below. Explore and extract the best out of these
resources:

* Smith & Mosier's Guidelines for designing user interface software:

Hope this helps. Have a nice weekend!
