RE: What's the purpose of this list?
Was I mistaken to think it was a place to get the support and friendly
advice from fellow technical writers? I've only been here a week or so
and I'm astonished at how much negativity and slamming is thrown around.
This is definitely a place to get support and friendly advice. I have been both on the giving and receiving end many times.
Sometimes, in the current environment, there is some negativity here. It's a tough world out there, and sometimes people need a place to vent. A few members have been known to do some "slamming" as well, but it is generally done in such a good, literate, way that the old-times just let them do their thing in the corner.
If you have a question about the day-to-day tasks and problems of being a technical writer, this is definitely the place to come!
