Can somebody giving an example of how the AP style guide produces
"documentation that does not meet the user needs?" I can't quite picture
this.
I'd say, use the style guide. If there are gaps or exceptions, either
create an in-house list of these, or supplement the AP with something
else.
But it sounds like management has made their desires clear. In my
experience, arguing your own personal preferences on matters like these
does not enhance how you are viewed by the Powers That Be. Choose your
battles (and your windmills).
