STC contests are almost totally meaningless. They are mostly a popularity
contest that everybody hands their friends within the chapter. Its like me
giving me an award. There is no objective assessment of the quality of the
material.

We discussed this on the list a while back.

Don't take STC judges seriously. All they can assess is fonts and styles. They
can not adequately assess the content or usefulness of documentation.
