As product manager you'll have to get much more into
the financial side of things. You'll have to worry
about budgeting, product pricing, life cycle costs,
etc. You'llalso have to get involved in CRM, which is
usually not a big concern for a documentation
producing group. And as a product manager, you may
have to deal with salesmen, which is a different
world.

However, I think that's the way to go and I wish you
good luck. There is definitely much more of a career
path for a product manager than for a documentation
team leader.
