You can take the man out of Motorola but you can take the Motorola out of a
man.

Sounds like "provincialism." Somebody who thinks the way they did things at
another company is the ONLY way to do things. This is a form of professional
stupidity that is usually squashed with harsh, painful reality (and sometimes
persistent unemployment.)

I'd tell your new writer to cram it and remind him that he doesn't work at
Motorola any longer.

As for other standards - why don't you check what your competitors are doing.
Then just copy them and improve up on it. That's what everybody else does.
