List members,
When I read the extract, I thought that Microsludge was off to its own
little planet again. If the patents are inforced, the world of companies who
think moving to OOo could split into two:
Those who are afraid of not being compatible with M$ stuff, who therefore
will halt any move towards OOo, and continue to spend fortunes in licences
for buggy products that waste their user's time, goodwill and, in extreme
circumstances, work done.
Those who are sick of M$'s "we want to rule the world" pitiful motto, who
will move to OOo definitely, will not spend fortunes in licences, work with
reliable tools and will be able to recover their previous work in 99,9% of
the cases.
Now, knowing with <irony> which wisdom </irony> tools choices are done in
companies, I wonder little about which side would be the most common one.
Their loss.
Tech writing tie-in: do you have a voice to express your concerns about the
tools you use to do you job? (I had typed ...tools you sue to do your job...
wellwell) What would you use at home? What would you use if you set yourself
up as a free-lance (or already are)?
