I think we're talking from two different perspectives. If you think
soley in terms of "vendors" and "customers" (understandable, as you
were commenting on a trade show), then your comments make more sense
(though you still wouldn't understand the dearth or lack of visibility
of some types of solutions, from vendors, if you don't get the whole
picture).

Yes, if he can only think in terms of vendors and customers, instead
of "how can I meet my company's IT needs", then it may be his problem.
He'll miss the possibilities of using components or entire solutions
that don't come from any vendor, or any one vendor.
