Lianne: We prefer an introductory header and paragraph at the beginning that identifies the content if the audience is technical staff or mgt. If the audience is internal or external customers, (users) we use a cover page.

Hello,

Is putting cover pages on technical notes bad form? I realize that tech
notes are *supposed* to be brief (hence the "note" part), but I'm new to
creating them and unfamiliar with the conventions that 'govern' their
layout.

A cover page would be nice and clean: title on the front, fine print on
the back (rather than in the footers, which are currently cluttered).
However, this would mean increasing my page count by 2, which I'd like to
avoid.

Any advice?

Thank you much,

Lianne Sprigg
