I'm a huge fan of the TV program West Wing (and the Iron
Chef...go figure). I like the writing, the dialog. As it
happens, I gave my girlfriend TIVO this Christmas *, then
she immediately went out of town for 4 days, so I've been
"learning" how to use it...it just so happens that I've been
"learning" by recording all instances of West Wing repeats,
of which one of the cable channel, Bravo, plays them
multiple times every day.
Anyway, it happens that just today, they were showing the
episode called "Galileo". The opening scene has the
President practicing for a live TV program about a Mars
landing and there's a dialog between the NASA Public Affairs
person, who wrote an awful introduction and Sam, one of the
Prez's speech writers.
The NASA guy says "We're both writers.", at which Sam says
"Yes, I suppose if we broaden the definition to those who
can spell."
I'm not sure how it applies to this discussion, I just
thought it did somehow.
