How about learning about the legislation and its requirements.

I think if you can demonstrate knowledge of the legislation and how it impacts
businesses and their operations, you can claim experience. SOX is a series of
reccomended practices that must be suited to each organization. If you
understand SEC filings, security issues, and the other components that comprise
the general operations of a public company - then you'll be in a position to do
SOX docs.
