By the way, Visio also saves files in Adobe Illustrator format -- great when
you need to create a vector graphic on a PC and send it to be printed by a
Mac user. Think posters, brochures, etc.

And bitmapped.

If you want vector quality line art, you need to avoid
any and all bitmap image formats (gif, jpg, png, bmp,
etc..) and either save directly as eps or wmf or print
directly to PDF and export eps from there.
