Phone screening interviews happen frequently in Silicon Valley. I hate it, but what can you do? It's very hard to project yourself over the telephone. Neither of you have facial expressions or body language to read. As long as you know in advance, make sure you have any materials nearby you might need for reference and be prepared to answer the usual kinds of interview questions in an upbeat and positive manner:

Why applied here? Why you left last job? How are you uniquely qualified for job? Software you have competency with? Background in their industry? Good luck. - Carol Gilbert
