Yes, your memory is correct. However, while I like the way that KOffice operates, it's not ready for the heavy duty stuff. I'm sure that KOffice developers are doing their best - and a very good best it is, too. But OOo Writer was first released as a proprietary DOS program in 1986, so it's a much more mature product. If it had just been written in the three years that the OOo project has been going, then it probably wouldn't be able to take on MS Word one on one.
