While I quite agree that Microsoft has the right to institute any rules regarding their products that are legal, no matter how unreasonable or silly they might be--I am afraid I completely miss the logic behind your statement that "Microsoft (among others) constitutes a majority where it concerns their products..."
Actually, it isn't subject to a vote. Microsoft, as the owner of their product, makes the rules within the operation of the law. Majority rule is simply not applicable...or have I missed something somewhere?
I believe that our law does impose various restraints upon any business who has a near monopoly in the market, by the way, whether the government chooses to enforce those rules or not. That, however, is a topic for another day.
