I actually posted this query as part of another thread, but nobody answered. I
certainly hope I have not wound up on everyone's kill list. ; ( But there have
been no responses, so I am posting this again.
-----------------------------------------

Yup. That's me. Well, not exactly "stupid," but clueless. Thus, I ask:

I'm doing a volunteer project -- indexing a .chm file. I love to index, so I
volunteered, thinking that I'd learn how to use this tool when the time came.
The time has come.

I have little experience with HTML Help projects, but I do have Microsoft HTML
Help Workshop here and I vaguely know how it works.

I intend to try to get instructions on how to build an index (create entries
and so forth) from the program's Help, but I thought I'd see if any of you had
(at the ready) some hints for me, or better yet, some steps on the neatest and
cleanest method to index a Help file.

I have enough experience with this program to know that the Help is not very
helpful. At least that's my memory of it from a while back. So, if anyone has
any brief ideas on how to index topics, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

There's no time limit on this whatsoever, so if nobody responds, I'll figure
it out myself, I'm sure, but I thought it might be nice to hear if anyone has
a neat seven-step procedure that I could use to just DO it.

Thanks for any help -- or better yet, any pointers to places that may have
good help.
