One contractor's perspective:

Yes it has fallen off the map. Expensive proprietary
Windows-based tools are out of favor right now.

In my market I perceived a definite lack of interest in those
kinds of tools. So I made a business decision to focus on
open-source tools instead. But my clients, contacts, and friends
in my personal network know that if I need WWP, I'll buy it and
be using it by the end of the week.

If you hang out here, I can see why you'd think that. Maybe
that's why more and more API doc work seems to be getting done
by developers these days instead of tech writers.

Disclosure: I do own FM5.5 and FM7 and have done all the
tutorials, just in case :-)
