Well, it's my plan whenever the design of a site is under
my control. Except that my PDF link is usually titled
something like "download this entire document in PDF
format," and appears on every page of a multipage HTML
version of the doc in question. The user has the choice
of clicking through the doc page by page/link by link or
downloading the whole thing in one gulp to keep and/or
read locally. I don't use language what might even
suggest that it would be a good idea to read the PDF
online. If I'm converting a print-format doc to HTML
for someone, I want their site to record lots of hits
on its pages...
